My journey and nutrition philosophy

Hey there! I’m Marita, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, board certified sports dietitian, and military spouse currently living in San Antonio, TX with my husband and two boys.

As an athlete myself, I know how important it is to have nutrition dialed in before, during, and after a race. Not only does it make you a more resilient athlete, but you far exceed your performance goals when you fuel your endurance, performance, and recovery.

While the word 'diet' is in my profession’s name, I’ve learned that following a rigid diet doesn't work. I’m dedicated to helping athletes at all levels hone in on their goals so that they can perform at their peak level, without having to count every single calorie.

My love for sports hasn’t always been lifelong; I was not an athlete growing up, and only started competing in triathlons after moving to Florida in 2010 to overcome my (very irrational!) fear of water. Since then, I’ve competed and occasionally placed as an age grouper in several sprint triathlons, Olympic distance triathlons, and Ironman Augusta 70.3, along with dozens of running races.

I became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in 2015 after completing a rigorous 1200-hour dietetic internship. Following my internship, I became the Registered Dietitian for Robins Air Force Base in Georgia, facilitating weight loss programs, counseling warrior-athletes, and teaching nutrition classes. Through my education and experience, I'm dedicated to helping athletes of all abilities to fuel beyond the race so they can excel at the sport they love and in life.

The Philosophy

I am dedicated to helping you fuel optimally before, during, and after your training and race, as well as in your everyday life. Athletes of any level deserve the knowledge to reach their performance goals in the sport they love without sacrificing flexibility and balance. With my guidance and support, we’ll work together to help you train at a higher level by fueling your healthiest body and mind.

Rigid meal plans, calorie counting, and inflexible diets are not sustainable in the long-term and don’t allow you to perform your best in both your sport or in life.

It’s doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Find the right balance for your body and mind so you can perform at your best. Stay structured towards success while staying in tune with what works best for you.
